Wednesday 15 July 2009

Well - it's Wednesday already! Where does the time go to? Having said that, I am really looking forward to the weekend. No particular reason - just nice to have Jim home from work for a couple of days, a bit of shopping, gardening and stitching. We have to go to Sainsburys at a shopping center called Merry Hill - or, more appropriately especially towards Christmas, Merry Hell! I am not keen on that sort of shopping, but it has to be done, I suppose! I am going to sent an order off to Sew and So though - threads fabric and a couple of little kits. They are such nice people at Sew and So - a pleasure to buy from them.

Today is dull, wet and humid - a good day to stitch, and I'm hoping to this afternoon. I'm stitching some little ornaments as a surprise for a special friend, so I can't say more than that at the moment.

Have a good day, one and all!

Tuesday 14 July 2009

Hello everyone!
Yes, I am still here, and am very sorry that I haven't blogged for so long! Time has this awful habit of speeding by so quickly - before we know it, it will be Christmas!!
I sa the surgeon at the Q.E. hospital back in April, and am awaiting surgery on my back. It is one of those things that you don't really want, but probably should have! They say it is the best thing, and after the op I will be able to walk a lot better, although I may still have some back ache. The thing that worries me most is the anasthetic - it can only be done under a general - no local or epidural - and I am petrified of not waking up again.................... So, we will have to see.

My lovely daughter, Hayley, has just started a job in Leeds, two hundeed miles away. It is a 'displacement' and a promotion. Working for the same company, she is in the Leeds branch setting up a new system. It is for six months, and then she will be home again. More money and a good thing for her C.V. I am very proud of her - and miss her very much.

As for the stitching - well, I still haven't finished the Three Things by Moira Blackburn - but it is getting there, with less than a quarter left to do. I am enjoying stitching it on and off between other projects.
I have stitched several Christmas ornaments - so I am ahead of myself there, which is highly unusual! I am really pleased with them - don't they always look lovely when stitched - so much better than in the 'photos. Of course, the new Just Cross Stitch Christmas Ornaments magazine will be out soon, so that is something to look forward to! Trouble is, where shall we find the time to stitch all that we want to.....?!!
I am also thinking of starting either Lavender and Lace's Santa of the Forest or Earth Angel or Long Dog's Foursome Reel - the large rectangular one - on 40 count cream Newcastle Linen with Cescent Colours' Argyle Socks. Decisions, decisions - what to choose!

So, that's about it for now - I hope not to be away for so long in future!
Hoping everyone has a good week and lots of stitching!!
